My April Camp NaNoWriMo 2024 Writing Goals

Another year, another April Camp NaNoWriMo. As many of you know, last year was my first time winning NaNoWriMo! I plan to keep that momentum going as I smash my writing goals for camp this year!

My Writing Goals for April Camp NaNoWriMo 2024

My goal for Camp NaNoWriMo is to write 30 chapters for my Kindle Vella Thrall. I have wanted to build up my backlog for posting, so I will use my time during camp. Though I aim to release 30 episodes in April, I have a good/better/best goal of 30/60/90 Episodes to create a backlog for myself so that my uploading will be easier, planned, scheduled, and consistent.

The Game Plan to Reach My Goals

  • Create a schedule for my days
  • Creating a Story Binder for Thrall
  • Utilize Time Blocking and Writing Sprints
  • Create a reward system to help gamify my journey

Tips for being Successful during Camp NaNoWriMo

Participate in Writing Sprints.

On YouTube, several creators stream themselves as they do writing sprints as a means of productivity. There are even some sprints that you can reference for a playback. The following is a list of videos and resources helpful while writing sprints.

Setting realistic goals

Set SMART goals for your writing journey. I know I talk about SMART goals a ton on this blog; however, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Create a daily writing routine – Plan your writing days.

Due to changes in my day-to-day, I have had to start being more deliberate with my time. As a result, I have created a four-day workweek schedule for myself, encompassing all I need for my work life and day-to-day to be successful. I then carved out an optional fifth work day, though I prefer to keep everything within the four days so that the remaining three belong to me. With that said, if I have to work extra days to achieve my goals, then that is what I will do because my Mantra going into 2024 is “Execute. Execute. Execute.”.

Set Good, Better Best, Goals, and Gamification

I learned this from the author Sarra Cannon; she sets good, better, and best targets for her goals and finds incredible ways to gamify her work, making it more engaging.

Conclusion

For the April 2024 run of NaNoWriMo, my good, better, and best goal targets are 30/60/90. With 30 being my “I will feel accomplished if I hit” goal and 90 being “I would feel like a total boss if I hit.” goal. My execution plan is to create a four-day work schedule that caters to my business and day-to-day. I also gamified my progress with writing sprints and rewards to help keep me engaged and motivated.
